What to expect

Discover the history of one of the most beautiful bays in the world – the breathtaking Boka Bay (Bay of Kotor).

On this boat tour, you'll visit the old towns of Kotor and Perast, both known for their stunning architecture; the picturesque artificial island of Our Lady of the Rocks, with the church that gave it its name; and enjoy panoramic views of Porto Montenegro and the Tivat Riviera. Around halfway through, you'll have a chance to freshen up with a swimming break in Stoliv. Guests will be welcomed with a shot of grape rakija and during the trip they‘ll have a chance to try Adriatic sea smelt and a piece of seasonal fruit.

Kotor was under Venetian rule for over 350 years, which left a decisive imprint on its architecture. The town is characterized by Romanesque and Gothic styles, with some Renaissance and Baroque elements. It is one of the best-preserved medieval towns on the Adriatic coast and is recognized in its entirety as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Perast, together with Kotor, is often referred to as "Venetian Montenegro." Its golden age came in the 17th and 18th centuries, during which it became predominantly Baroque in character, with a remarkable number of stone palaces and churches. Careful urban planning gives Perast the appearance of a town designed by a single great architect.

In front of Perast, steeped in legend, lies the island of Our Lady of the Rocks. According to tradition, a sailor from Perast found an image of the Virgin Mary on the reef in the 15th century. This discovery was considered miraculous, and the people of Perast decided to build a small chapel on the site. Over time, the chapel evolved into the Church of Our Lady of the Rocks, which was completed in 1630.

The life of the people of Perast has been closely tied to the island for centuries. Sailors would leave relief tiles as offerings to ensure the protection of Our Lady on their voyages. Meanwhile, their ladies would pray for their safe return. The most famous story is of Jacinta Kunic, who waited for her sailor for 25 years, spending that time weaving a tapestry from her own hair. This tapestry is now one of the most well-known treasures of the church.
